Weekly conduct reports, 1927-1947.

Prison wardens and road camp superintendents submitted weekly reports of inmates' conduct, which was designated by three grades of behavior: A, B, and C, with A being the highest. Conduct reports indicate the number of inmates of each grade or class according to the last report, the number of inmates demoted since the last report; number promoted; number received, transferred, or discharged; and the total number in each class for the week of the report. Only in the case of promotions and demotions do Conduct Reports include an inmate's name, serial number, race, and county. When demotions resulted from a punishable offense, the offense, and the nature and extent of punishment are listed. Reports carry the signature of the warden and often that of the Resident Physician. These records were also created by the Board of Administration (1923-1939).
